Scenic Mountain Engagement at Rocky Mountain National Park

When a couple requests a show stopping backdrop for their photos, there’s a fair amount of pressure to come through with the perfect setting.  I immediately knew that Trail Ridge Road would deliver exactly that!  I met up with Jessica and Ryan in Rocky Mountain National Park for their scenic mountain engagement shoot and both the couple and the scenery blew me away.

Jessica & Ryan were nervous leading up to the shoot and she warned me that they could be a bit awkward in front of a camera (her words, not mine.)  Either she was wrong or they’re skilled actors! Not only did they have fun in the process, but I also couldn’t be more pleased with how beautifully everything came together.

This couple was totally committed to getting the shots they hoped for during their session and it paid off in the end. You’d never know it by looking at the photos we got of this beautiful couple and the epic mountain views, but those photos came at a price. Trail Ridge Road sets at roughly 12,000 ft elevation and the temperature was FRIGID that day! Despite the bitter wind whipping around us, these two endured the elements and even popped a bottle of champagne to enjoy while they watched the sunset.

The golden sunlight and dusting of snow on the mountains in the distance made for the most romantic backdrop, and we caught it all just in the nick of time!  I'm so glad we had a chance to experience the beauty of Trail Ridge Road before it closed for the season just a few days after the session.

I had a great day with Jessica & Ryan.  They truly are one of the sweetest couples I’ve had the pleasure of photographing.  We laughed for two hours straight together, and that makes me that much more excited to photograph their wedding in Steamboat Springs next fall!
