Intimate Elopement on Cottonwood Pass
This past summer, I was honored to join Emily & Andrew for their intimate elopement just outside of Buena Vista, Colorado. Leading up to the elopement, these two were unbelievably warm and welcoming. On the day of their elopement, I felt more like a close friend than just another wedding vendor.
Alpine Lake Ceremony
This was one of the most unique ceremonies I’ve ever had the pleasure of witnessing! The only thing classic about this day was the love shared between Emily & Andrew, but one could argue that this is also extraordinary. During their vows, Emily mentioned how she wanted to live her life with Andrew "off trail" and that is the best description of this special day and how they intend to carry out their marriage.
We met at sunrise to hike to an alpine lake for the first part of their wedding day. The scenery was breathtaking! Surrounded by a few close friends, family, and the summer wildflowers, Emily & Andrew exchanged vows and celebrated their union with a hand tying ceremony. Emily’s white lace bodice and flowing, mustard yellow skirt were the epitome of off the beaten trail in the most elegant fashion. Their personalities shone through in every detail of their ceremony, and their passion for life and each other was as crystal clear as the water of the lake.
Traditional Chalk Cliffs Wedding
After a morning of adventure and ‘off-trail’ nuptials, we hiked back down the trail for a more traditional ceremony on their own land near Chalk Cliffs that afternoon. This location was especially meaningful for the couple, as this is the place they call home and Andrew is in the process of building their future home on the property. Because of this, they chose to invite guests to join them where they plan to spend their life together for part two of their wedding day!
It was such a treat to get to see these two get married on their terms, in their own style. Every moment of the day was uniquely Emily & Andrew, two of the most genuine souls I’ve ever had the pleasure of encountering. It was a beautiful day with gorgeous views and a truly lovely couple, and I’m thrilled to have been a part of it!
As a photographer I’m privileged to be able to witness the start to many marriages. It’s even better when I leave feeling like I’ve known a couple for ages, and that was the case with these two. Emily and Andrew, thank you for allowing me to be present for what is sure to be the start of a life-long adventure!
