Rocky Mountain National Park Couples Session

This past February I had the opportunity to shoot Emily and Sam on Loveland Pass for a fun couples session. We had a blast during the shoot and afterwards Emily mentioned she was interested in doing another shoot in the summer months. YAY! Over the past few months in quarantine and having some extra time on my hands I decided to plan a summer session with them but also got permission to style them!

Styling sessions are something I would love to offer as an option to my future couples so, Emily and Sam were really doing me a big favor by letting me choose the location of the shoot and to give some extra guidance on what to wear! Spoiler alert…upon booking with me I provide a What to Wear guide for couples but this was meant to take that guide a step further.

We planned the shoot in Rocky Mountain National Park, I created a vision board, and shared some ideas with Emily. The colors and tones of the environment were the driving force in deciding on the outfits. I wanted Emily share with me some of the items her and Sam already owned for the more comfortable outfit, then I was going to provide a dress and accessories for the more dressier outfit and Sam got a new shirt!

First, I had an AMAZING bouquet made by Hazel Ave Floral. I provided her with a vision board and gave her some creative flexibility. It was perfect! Next, I brought some accessories including a ring and a a few hat options to choose from.

On the day of the shoot we met up in Estes Park and with our reservation time around 3pm we made our way into the park. Just an FYI, reservations are REQUIRED to enter into Rocky Mountain National Park at this time. I booked mine about a month in advance and bought a backup day in case of bad weather.

We started at Sprague Lake for a few photos with a more comfortable outfit. Emily wore a white tank top, jean shorts, and had a blush colored wrap as the accent color that popped as the walked through the trees and played on the dock. Sam wore jeans, brown boots, and a grey t-shirt. After some fun in those outfits we went back to the car to change into the more dressier option. I brought a blue maxi dress from Lulus and a ring from a local farmer’s market jeweler. I also brought some hats from Amazon in black, light brown, and dark brown for variety with the different outfits. Sam kept his jeans and boots as we switched out the grey t-shirt for a white button down. This outfit was my favorite for they really popped in front of any background! With it being the middle of summer, and after a few rain storms the park was green with all of the trees and grasses. We spent the rest of the afternoon wandering around the park only stopping when something caught our eye!

Thank you again to Emily and Sam for letting me style them for this shoot! It was so much fun!!

The goal of a styled session is for me to help you pick the best outfits possible that not only identify with you individually but you as a couple. I want to emphasize your own personal style while bringing everything together in terms of time of year, location, and time of day. All styled sessions include a color palette, location recommendations, and even a vision board or Pinterest pins to help you see my vision for the shoot. To any and all couples reading this and are interested in a styled session please don’t hesitate to reach out!
