Flatirons Vista Elopement
Jess & Ryan spent two years planning the wedding of their dreams set to take place in New York on June 20, 2020…then COVID-19 happened. Like so many other couples, they were forced to make a difficult decision…they decided to cancel their dream wedding. However, they decided they didn’t want to postpone their marriage and sacrifice the date they were so looking forward to. Currently living in Colorado, they decided to find the perfect place to elope locally and celebrate on that day.
After taking multiple weekend trips together to find the perfect location, they finally decided on a trail with amazing views just outside of Boulder.
It was EARLY in the morning that Saturday in June. I got to the meeting point an hour early which was at 5:30…AM and watched the gorgeous sunrise on my drive over. Anyone looking to beat the crowds on a weekend? A sunrise ceremony is the best way to do it.
Ryan, Jess and their friend/officiant Brandon met me in the parking lot as we got everything together before the hike up to their ceremony spot. Ryan and Brandon headed up the trail while I helped Jess slip into her beautiful BHLDN dress.
They did their first look in the meadow with the mesmerizing flat irons of Boulder in the background. Then, it was about a 20 minute walk down the trail until we reached the ceremony location. Jess and Ryan even setup a tripod and iPhone for family and friends to Facetime and be virtually present for their ceremony. After they both said “I DO” and exchanged rings they decided to celebrate with a bottle of champagne and a big kiss from their Dog of Honor, Remy.
This elopement was so special in many ways and I was truly honored to be a part of it. Jess and Ryan are mutual friends of mine, and it was incredible to be a part of something so intentional and non-traditional as the wedding industry navigates its way around the global pandemic.
Congratulations Jess and Ryan! I wish you the best in your new lives together as husband and wife!
