Maroon Bells Proposal
Austin reached out to me a few weeks before he and Becca planned to come to Colorado for a last minute getaway. We quickly bonded over our love for the tv show Schitt’s Creek and were so excited to plan the surprise. Austin wanted to propose to Becca and try to completely catch her off guard.
Austin and I went back and forth on different locations for the proposal and the weather was a bit chilly for the end of May. But a couple days before the shoot we decided Maroon Bells would be perfect!
The day of the shoot there was a 70% chance of rain! Eek! Austin and I basically decided to embrace it rain or shine. I arrived to the spot about an hour early to scope out the area and place myself hidden in plain sight. With Maroon Bells being a fairly popular tourist spot I hoped to blend in with my fancy cameras hanging by my side. I pretending to be another tourist admiring the landscape and randomly taking a selfie here and there as they approached. I quickly said hello and got out of the way and slowly walked away. Austin and I decided on a signal so I would be camera ready before he dropped a knee…the nerves must have caught up with him because he did the signal twice! :)
Seconds later he dropped a knee, asked Becca to marry him and the two were ecstatic! I surprised them with a bottle of champagne and introduced myself to Becca.
We spent the next couple hours before sunset enjoying the scenery and capturing the blissful moments between these two as they celebrated the beginning of a new chapter together. And best of all…it never rained!!
Congratulations Austin and Becca! I had so much fun working together and I wish you all the best!
