My Nephew's 1st Birthday Family Session

I have an older brother and last year he and his girlfriend had a little boy named Asher Cade Smiley. One year later, his mom asked me if I would take some photos before his first birthday…HECK YES. I love this little guy more than anything and this little birthday family session was so amazing.

We all got up early in the morning and met around sunrise up in Evergreen, our hometown. The sunlight trickled through the trees as we approached the perfect spot in the grass. Asher was wide awake and had no idea he was the center of the show. We brought some balloons along to keep him occupied and he wasn’t sure what to think of them at first, but as we went from the #1 to a bunch of balloons, down to one balloon he was the happiest little baby in the world. After a few monkey noises and swinging between his mom and dad my heart was full.

I’m obviously biased with this little guy being my first nephew…but I’ve never had so much fun capturing special moments like these for a baby. I don’t shoot a lot of families…usually just friends and our own family Christmas card, but after this shoot I think I might add it to the list!
