Elk Meadow Engagement
This engagement session was one of the most special I’ve ever had the honor of capturing. This is my best friend Bailey and her fiance Taylor. But first, the proposal story. On October 6, they drove down to Albuquerque, New Mexico for the annual hot air balloon festival and to visit Bailey’s cousins. Early that morning, Taylor grabbed Bailey’s hand and got lost in the heavy crowds as hundreds of balloons began to ascend. There he hugged her from behind while looking up at the balloons and as he told her how much he loved her he “snuck” a beautiful ring out in front of her so when she looked down there it was! Not long after, I received THE phone call. Well, first I woke up to a text message from Bailey and a picture of her hand with a shiny new engagement ring on it! I jumped out of bed and called her to hear the ewy gooey goodness of the proposal story that I have summarized above. As the super excited friend that I am, I started screaming and told her how happy I was followed by a resounding “I KNEW IT”! A couple days later, I reminded her that I called “DIBBS” on shooting her engagement photos.
13 years ago, Bailey and I met in high school on our dance team in Evergreen, CO and have been friends ever since. So, when I asked her where she wanted to do her engagement photos it wasn’t a surprise that Evergreen came to mind. It was the end of October, and we decided to aim for golden hour one Sunday afternoon before the Colorado weather had a chance to have a mood swing. It was a beautiful 65 degree day as I captured these two as they frolicked across the meadow with the golden sunlight behind them. Two outfits and multiple poses later, Taylor was tired of me asking him to keep picking up Bailey and was beginning to ‘figit’. Nonetheless, these two made my job easy and the photos are proof of that. The love they share for each other radiated that day and I truly enjoyed being the third wheel to their ‘meadow date’.
Looking back at the photos, I’ve fallen completely in love with shooting during golden hour and am incredibly grateful to be able to capture these two and how their love for each other glows.
Bailey has since asked me to be her Maid of Honor (HOORAY!) and her and Taylor are to be married this coming summer in Evergreen. Love you guys and I can’t wait to celebrate! Keep scrolling to see highlights from their session.
FUN FACT: The cross pictured above was Taylor’s first Christmas gift to Bailey that he MADE for her. I remember when she showed it me for the first time and a little voice in my head said…this is going to be the guy in her life. Sure enough, a few months later he popped the question and here we are!
